ONLINE POKER MAJORS TO MERGE
(671) (10-October-2006)
Scandinavian advantages flow from new deal
Online poker networks Tribeca Tables and Tain have merged, with all
Tain poker players and brands, including all Expekt poker customers,
migrating to the Tribeca platform according to a company statement today.
The agreement is for the poker sites only, with Tain's parent company Expekt
continuing to operate its European-focused sportsbook and casino platforms.
Steve Cook , European managing director at Tribeca, said: We have been
working for some time to reach into the lucrative Scandinavian poker
markets. Signing with Tain and bringing on board Expekt.com has allowed
Tribeca to take a firm foothold in those countries. We are very pleased
to complete a significant deal with Tain.
Tain's biggest sites are Expekt and Parbet , they will join the Tribeca
network, which includes among others Paddy Power, Golden Palace and Victor
Chandler.
Tribeca said Tain's poker partners would now be able to take advantage
of the higher liquidity that both companies consider as the single most
important component to offer long term competitive online poker.
Erik Ahlberg , chief executive of Tain, said: This manifests a natural
next step in our effort of building a world class poker offering. We
will now be able to welcome our customers into one of the strongest networks
in the world, positioned to lead the coming phase of consolidation.
