VIRTUAL SPORTS IN A LEAGUE OF ITS OWN
(505) (24-September-2006)
Gextech gearing up for more Fantastic Sports action and a GBP
1 billion market
Delegates to recent online gambling Expos have all remarked on the extraordinary
visual impact of the Gextech stands (see previous InfoPowa GIGSE reports),
which showcase the companys pin-sharp computer animated audio visuals
on large liquid crystal displays.
The results are astonishingly lifelike, showing individual members of
teams in smooth animated action against the backdrop of well
known European stadia and the clever use of a diversity of 'camera' angles
mimicking real-life television coverage.
The interactive games developer has now announced plans to extend the trademarked
range of its virtual fixed odds sports betting products under the umbrella
branding of 'Fantastic Sports' . Two sub-brands, Fantastic League and Fantastic
Races will encompass a wide range of popular sports featuring ultra realistic
3-D video rendering cleverly interlaced using the company's patented Smart
Stitch technology.
Gextech is currently gearing up for the launch of its debut Fantastic League
product (Football) into the public domain, having secured an Interactive TV distribution
deal with UK-based broadcaster BSkyB . The game will also be delivered via the
Internet and into betting shops throughout the UK and abroad with confirmation
of major deals expected to be announced by Gextech at the forthcoming EiG Expo
(Barcelona, Spain, 11-13 October) and Betting Show (Birmingham, UK, 25-26 October).
Chairman Mark Campbell explained the strategy behind the development: "We have
made a significant investment in the development of our first virtual sports
betting product and in the process have amassed an extraordinary wealth of talent
comprising games design and programming skills. The finished product serves as
a template for the development of other sports games. Our team has already begun
working on racing concepts - both horses and cars - and other league-based team/ball
games such as cricket, golf and American football, which we look forward to rolling
out over the next 12 to 24 months."
"Our business model forecasts that up to GBP1 billion will be wagered worldwide
across the Fantastic Sports range within two years, making it a must-have for
operators," he added. |
