BETONSPORTS DIRECTORS UNLIKELY TO SHOW UP IN ST. LOUIS (206) (31-jul-06)

But the company will be paying for CEO's legal costs as he seeks bail

The St. Louis Post-Despatch today (Monday) published an article on the BetonSports clash with American federal authorities due to be heard in court this afternoon.

Two matters will be heard. In one the dismissed CEO of BetonSports, David Carruthers will be arraigned on charges from a Missouri grand jury indictment, to which his lawyer Tim Evans has already said he will plead not guilty. Evans will also attempt to have Carruthers released on bail, which has thus far been opposed by the Department of Justice since he was arrested on July 16.

Shock news from the BBC this morning (Tuesday) is that BetonSports directors have unceremoniously fired jailed CEO David Carruthers "as a consequence of [his] continued detention by US authorities."

A spokesperson said the company ended Carruthers' contract and removed him as a director after his detention in Dallas last week.

In referring to Carruthers, a company spokesperson said:  "Clearly, while he remains in the custody of the U.S. government, he is unable to perform his duties. The company has been unable to speak directly with Carruthers and has communicated with him only through lawyers."

13 episodes of razor sharp poker action being filmed at Caesars in Las Vegas

Fire up that new High Definition TV this week, because there's a wealth of poker action being beamed from the new 14 500 sq. ft. poker room at Caesars Palace in the world's gambling capital, Las Vegas.

The organisers claim that the Vegas Open tournament will be the first major poker event to be broadcast in high definition, and it debuts this week on INHD in the first of a 13 episode series. (3-jul-06)

CEO Poker Show donates a $100 000 TV sponsorship package to charity

William Peraza Jr ., CEO of "The CEO Poker Show" in the States is a gambling man who believes in putting benefits up front for charity instead of just talking about it.

This week his company, which owns and produces the upcoming television show "The CEO Poker Show" is using the eBay auction Web site to sell a $100 000 television sponsorship package to benefit a Florida charity.
